They battle you to get in front but it doesnt really do anything useful since, even on. Now, just shy of a year-long wait, it’s fortunate that it seems it was time well spent since the end result is one of the most gorgeous-looking games I’ve ever played.

Am I being too hyperbolic when I call it a masterpiece? I guess for someone who has been gaming for forty years I have some experience and it makes me conscious that only perhaps one or two games per generation give me that joy of gaming again. They tend to follow a single racing line. Originally announced as a PS4 launch title, DRIVECLUB underwent numerous setbacks and delays ranging from development team restructures to technical issues. Yes, other games may be technically better, but there are very few games that give you that sense of speed coupled with almost obsessive attention to detail: I took a photograph of a bike in the rain and the track was reflected in the sheen of the tyres. There are times when I am genuinely terrified of the corners in this game because all you can see are the reflections from the road markers and the lights from other cars. That feeling of barrelling across a cliff top in an R8 as the sun sets and gives way to darkness gives me the shivers, nit only from the wonderful lighting system, but the sense of speed that other games just do not offer. Racing purists may not like how it feels, they may not like the look, but they’ll like the challenge.

The team have been working relentlessly on the game and have captured a new video to showcase just how impressive it’s currently looking. As enjoyable and maddening as the offline play can be, though, this is a social racer first and foremost, and it has plenty of online. But it was still relatively compelling because of these challenges. We got our hands on it at the E3 following the PS4 announcement. The more I play this game, the more I love it. At least, not as good as I was expecting. The new generation of consoles, especially PlayStation 4, does not dissolve us with racing titles. Driveclub was supposed to be a launch day title for the PS4, but it was delayed for a while, pushing back until now.
